Website CMS Manual

How to manage the public website in the admin panel

This manual explains how to manage the public-facing side of the platform using the backend CMS. It covers pages, blocks, products, images, metrics, contact content, map settings, social links, opening hours, and how activation controls what appears on the website.

Main rule: if a page or block is marked inactive, it does not appear on the front end. If a page is inactive, the page is hidden from the menu and cannot be opened publicly.

1. Overview

The website is managed from three places in the admin area:

  • Website Pages for the top-level page record, page title, hero title, page body, hero image, sort order, and active status.
  • Website Blocks for the actual editable content sections that appear on each page, including text blocks, metrics, team members, product cards, gallery images, and contact details.
  • Farm Settings for site-wide values such as site name, phone, email, address, currency, social links, opening hours, and the contact map embed URL.

Think of it like this: Pages decide whether a page exists, Blocks decide what content appears inside it, and Settings control shared business details used across the whole website.

2. Where to log in

On the public website navigation bar, the last menu item is Admin Portal. Click it to open the backend admin panel. It is styled in a different color and placed at the very end of the menu.

After logging in, use the left sidebar to reach:

  • Website CMS for pages and blocks.
  • Settings for Farm Settings.

3. Admin areas you will use most

Area What it controls Typical action
Website Pages Page title, slug, hero title, hero image, body text, and active state. Activate or deactivate an entire page.
Website Blocks Individual content pieces inside a page. Edit a section, hide a block, add a new product, change a metric, or remove a team member.
Farm Settings Site-wide contact details and branding values. Change phone, email, currency, map, social links, and opening hours.

4. Pages vs Blocks vs Settings

Website Pages

Use this when you want to control whether a page exists publicly and what its page-level header says. Example: deactivate the About page so it disappears from the menu and cannot be opened.

Website Blocks

Use this when you want to manage the content inside a page. Example: edit the Total Animals metric, update a product card, or hide one team member.

Farm Settings

Use this for shared business information used in the top bar, footer, contact area, and pricing display.

5. Filters and how to use them

The Website Pages and Website Blocks screens both have filters at the top of the table. These are very important because they let you jump directly to the exact content you want.

Website Pages filters
  • Status: choose Active or Inactive to show only pages in that state.
Website Blocks filters
  • Page: choose the page you want, such as Home, About, Contact, Product, Service, Team, or Feature.
  • Section: choose the content type you want, such as Product card, Feature metric, Contact detail, Team member, or Gallery item.
  • Status: choose Active or Inactive.

If you are trying to edit a specific item, always start with the Page filter first. Then narrow down using Section.

6. How to edit a page

Navigational path: Admin Portal > Website CMS > Website Pages

  1. Open Website Pages.
  2. Use the Status filter if needed.
  3. Find the page you want, such as About, Services, Products, Gallery, Team, Testimonial, Contact, or Feature.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Update the page title, page title text, meta description, hero title, hero eyebrow, body text, hero image, or sort order.
  6. Click Save.

Use this when you want to change the overall page identity or the page header content. For most visible section content inside the page, go to Website Blocks instead.

7. How to activate or deactivate a page

Navigational path: Admin Portal > Website CMS > Website Pages

  1. Open Website Pages.
  2. Use the Status filter to quickly find Active or Inactive pages.
  3. On the table, use the Active toggle for the page you want.
  4. Switch it on to activate the page or off to deactivate it.

When a page is deactivated:

  • It is removed from the public menu.
  • The public page route is hidden from visitors.
  • Its blocks remain in the database, so you can reactivate it later without rebuilding everything.

If you deactivate the Product page, the public /product page will no longer appear. If you also have product cards on the Home page, those are controlled separately from the Home page blocks.

8. How to edit blocks and page sections

Navigational path: Admin Portal > Website CMS > Website Blocks

This is the main area for editing almost everything visitors see on the front end. Each row is one block. A block can be text, a metric, a product card, a team member, a gallery image, a service card, or a contact detail item.

  1. Open Website Blocks.
  2. Use the Page filter to select the page you want.
  3. Use the Section filter to narrow it to the exact block type.
  4. Click the block title or click Edit.
  5. Change the fields you need, such as title, subtitle, body, image, values, links, or ordering.
  6. Save the block.

Examples of block types you will see:

  • feature_metric: number cards like Years Experience, Total Animals, Happy Clients.
  • product_card: product tiles with image, title, value, and old value.
  • team_member: team profiles with name, role, and image.
  • contact_detail: office, phone, and email items on the Contact page.
  • gallery_item: gallery photos.

9. If I want to change text under "Our Offices"

The text under Our Office on the public Contact page is managed as a contact_detail block.

Navigational path: Admin Portal > Website CMS > Website Blocks

Filters to use:

  • Page = Contact
  • Section = Contact detail
  • Status = Active, if you only want to see visible items

What to edit:

  • Title: change the visible heading, such as Our Office, Call Us, or Mail Us.
  • Subtitle: add a smaller descriptive line, such as Primary phone or Primary email.
  • Body: change the actual text visitors will see, such as the address, phone number, or email address.
  • Icon: change the icon class if you want a different visual symbol.

Example: if you want to replace Ireri, Kenya with a new office location, open the Contact detail block and edit the Body field.

10. How to adjust a metric

Metrics are the number cards such as Years Experience, Award Winning, Total Animals, and Happy Clients.

Navigational path: Admin Portal > Website CMS > Website Blocks

Filters to use:

  • Page = the page you are working on, such as Home, Service, Product, or Feature.
  • Section = Feature metric.

What to edit:

  • Title: the label under the number, for example Total Animals.
  • Value: the actual number, for example 2619.
  • Image: the icon image used in the card.
  • Sort Order: the position of the metric on the page.
  • Active: turn off if you want the metric hidden.

Example: to change Total Animals from 2619 to 3100, find the block with Page = Feature and Section = Feature metric, then update Value and save.

11. How to add or remove a product

Products are managed as Website Blocks with the section key product_card. There is no separate product module for the public website cards. The cards you see on the Home page and Products page come from blocks.

Navigational path: Admin Portal > Website CMS > Website Blocks

Filters to use:

  • Page = Product if you want the public products page.
  • Page = Home if you want the homepage product strip.
  • Section = Product card.
  • Status = Active or Inactive depending on what you want to see.
To add a product
  1. Open Website Blocks.
  2. Set the correct Page filter.
  3. Set Section to Product card.
  4. Click Create or New.
  5. Enter the product title, upload or choose the product image, type the selling price in Value, and optionally type the old price in Old value.
  6. Set Sort Order if you want the product to appear earlier or later.
  7. Make sure Active is turned on.
  8. Save the record.
To remove a product without deleting it
  1. Open the same Product card block.
  2. Toggle Active off.
  3. Save or let the toggle apply immediately, depending on the admin screen behavior.
To remove a product completely
  1. Open the product block.
  2. Use the Delete action.
  3. Confirm the deletion.

If the same product is also shown on the Home page, repeat the same steps for the Home page blocks. Home and Product pages are managed separately.

12. How to change the currency on product prices

Navigational path: Admin Portal > Settings > Farm Settings

Section: Pricing

  1. Open Farm Settings.
  2. Scroll to the Pricing section.
  3. Change the Currency field.
  4. Save the settings.

The site uses this value when showing product prices on the public pages. You can enter a symbol like KSh or a code like KES. The front end will display the exact text you save there.

13. How to add, remove, or edit team members

Team members are also Website Blocks.

Navigational path: Admin Portal > Website CMS > Website Blocks

Filters to use:

  • Page = Team
  • Section = Team member
Add a team member
  1. Click Create.
  2. Fill in the name in Title.
  3. Fill in the role in Subtitle.
  4. Upload the team photo in Image.
  5. Save.
Hide a team member
  1. Open the block.
  2. Turn off Active.
  3. Save.
Remove a team member completely
  1. Open the block.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Confirm the deletion.

14. How to change contact information and the map

The public contact page uses a mix of Website Blocks and Farm Settings.

To change the address/phone/email cards on the Contact page

Navigational path: Admin Portal > Website CMS > Website Blocks

Filters to use:

  • Page = Contact
  • Section = Contact detail

Edit the Title, Subtitle, and Body fields for each card. If you want to hide one item, toggle Active off.

To change the map

Navigational path: Admin Portal > Settings > Farm Settings

Section: Contact Page

  1. Open Farm Settings.
  2. Scroll to Contact Page.
  3. Replace the Google Maps embed URL.
  4. Save the settings.

15. How to edit social links, phone, email, and opening hours

Navigational path: Admin Portal > Settings > Farm Settings

Website section
  • Site name: changes the brand name in the navbar and footer.
  • Site tagline: changes the short line used on the site.
  • Site phone: changes the phone shown at the top bar, footer, and contact area.
  • Site email: changes the email shown in the top bar, footer, and contact area.
  • Site address: changes the address shown in the footer and contact area.
Opening Hours section
  • Update Monday - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday fields.
  • Save the settings to update the footer hours on the public site.
Social links
  • Update Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube URLs in the Website section.
  • Save the settings.

The top bar and footer pull these values directly from Farm Settings, so changes appear site-wide.

17. Practical tips and common actions

To find one exact block fast

Use Page first, then Section, then optionally Status.

Example: Page = Contact, Section = Contact detail.

To hide only part of a page

Do not deactivate the page itself.

Instead, deactivate the specific block you want to remove.

To replace an image

Open the block, upload a new image in the Image field, and save.

To move something higher on the page

Lower the Sort Order value. Smaller numbers appear earlier.

If you make a change and it does not appear immediately, refresh the page and confirm that the correct block is still active. If a section disappears, check whether the parent page is active and whether the block is active.
